That Tom Cat gin at your new local watering hole? It's from Hardwick.  That Jasper Hill Farm cheese everyone loves?  Right next door in Greensboro.  The #1 microbrewery in the world, Hill Farmstead?  The same.  The best ice cream in the world - Ben & Jerry's?  Just down the road in Stowe.  Come to Wapanacki for the adventure but it's the food that may keep you coming back.

Wapanacki provides kitchens in each cabin, several outdoor grills and fire pits for all sorts of culinary fun.  There is a good grocery store just a few miles away from the property.  However, there are so many farm-to-table food and small brewery options nearby that you'll want to visit them all.  The area is famous for it.  With so many world-class options nearby this list is by no means exhaustive, but here are some highlights.

Restaurants/Food Info:

  • Hardwick:
  • Stowe:
    • Plate - As a NYC foodie, this is among the best restaurants I've ever been to.
    • Harrisons - Cozy main street spot, excellent menu.
    • 10 Acres Bistro - Amazing farm to table spot just outside town.
    • Best options on Yelp.
  • Ben & Jerry's - No introduction needed.  Take the tour and enjoy the tasting, then buy more!
  • Cabot Creamery - Nothing beats Vermont Cheddar, but they have other great stuff too!
  • Jasper Hill Dairy - Jasper Hill does not have tours nor to they sell their cheese at the farm but they attend local farmers markets (see the Activities tab) and you can buy online.  This is simply one of the best cheese makers in the world.
  • Craftsbury General Store - Imagine a country store exactly like you would want it to be, then set your sites higher.  Prepared foods, staples, wine, beer, you name it.
  • Grocery - There is Tops Market in Hardwick for all your grocery needs.  We recommend Marty's 1st Stop in Danville for meats and seafood (doesn't look like much from the outside but trust us .  Stop by on your way up).

Breweries, Distilleries & Bars:

  • Hill Farmstead - When a brewery wins best small brewery in the world there isn't much else to say.  Sometimes there are crowds but take your time up there and enjoy the scenery and the samples.  Very much worth part of an afternoon.
  • Barr Hill - Maker of Tom Cat gin.  Located in Hardwick, they are taking the process of making Gin and Vodka to a whole new level.
  • Rock Art Brewery - Just down the road in Morrisville.  Wide variety of IPAs along with Pilsners and Wheats.
  • Lost Nation Brewery - "Honest small batch beer".  The more I write this site section the more I want to get back out to these breweries.  Great variety here.
  • Matterhorn - Just off the mountain this is mostly a apres-ski spot but it's a fun bar/grill any time of year.
