With all the activity options at Wapanacki it's easy to spend a whole week here without ever leaving the property.  However there is so much to experience in the surrounding area it's worth making time to go for an adventure.  The Northeast Kingdom is known for its wide range of outdoor activity and the summer is the best time of year to take advantage.  Listed below are just a few of our favorite activities and spots on & off the property to check out but the full range is as wide as your imagination.


On the property:

  • Hiking - Explore the miles of trails on the property.

  • Biking - Bring a mountain bike and check out the trails.

  • Swimming - Jump in the lake! It's clear and clean and warmer than you think!

  • Boating - Wapanacki provides kayaks and canoes for your pleasure. Grab one and enjoy!

  • Relax & Recharge! - Find one of many great spots, either on the beach or on a bench in the woods and catch up on reading or just enjoy the peace and quiet.

Surrounding Area:

  • Road Biking - This area of Vermont has quiet winding roads that present any level of difficulty while providing knock-your-socks-off views and plenty of great establishments to stop and take a break.

  • Hiking - There are plenty of great hikes in the area of varying grade that fit any length and fitness level. Below are a few highly rated options.

  • Shopping/Antiques:

    • The town of Hardwick is just a couple miles away and provides great local shopping.

    • Stowe is 30 minutes away and has a classic main street as well as the mountain road with all sorts of shopping and antiquing options.

  • Farmer's Markets - Fresh food from local farms, products from local craftsmen and more.

  • Local Events - There are often special events in the area. Keep and eye out here to see if you overlap with one!

  • Craftsbury Outdoor Center - Sculling, biking and lots of other options.

  • Smugglers' Notch - Waterpark, Climbing wall, mini golf and lots, lots more.

  • Golfing - Call ahead for times and availability.

  • Yoga - Check out Open Space right in Hardwick!

  • Highland Center for the Arts - Greensboro has a newly renovated arts center - Highland Center for the Arts - which has films, music, plays, talks, yoga and much, much more. Take a look and see what's on tap during your visit to the area.

  • Museum of Everyday Things - Located in Nearby Glover, check out this New York Times article. Worth a side trip.

  • Jeudevine Memorial Library - The local library in Hardwick. Jeudevine hosts talks and films for all as well as various kids and adult programs. The library also has computers and wifi for those who have to tap back into the real world during their visit. (The property has wifi but it might be spotty).
